Nine seasonal cottages and three year-round homes on a quiet, protected bay — family-run, and loved by the same families for thirty years and counting.
Tucked into a sheltered bay toward the north end of Chautauqua Lake, Irwin Bay Cottages has welcomed families for generations. We keep the authentic feel of simpler times around the lake — while still giving you the comforts, and the Wi-Fi, of today.
Every cottage is clean, bright, and lovingly kept by your host Brianna, who keeps every cottage cared-for the way her own home would be. Bring the boat, bring the kids, bring the whole extended family.
1,308 feet above sea level · 20 miles long · over 13,000 acres.
The name Chautauqua is thought to come from a Seneca word meaning “a bag tied in the middle” — an apt description of the lake’s pinched shape at Bemus Point.
Twelve rentals in all — from cozy one-bedroom cottages to year-round homes that sleep the whole family. Browse below, then send a quick reservation request.
Rates shown are weekly starting prices for the 2026 off-season, plus tax and fees. Summer-season rates and live availability appear on each cottage page.
Two cameras stream the bay around the clock — check the morning light, the water, and the weather before you ever pack the car.
A short drive in any direction turns up a state park, a country market, a small museum, or a quiet trail. A few of our favorites, by what you might be in the mood for:
Walleye, muskie, and bass right off the dock — plus the best fish-cleaning station and dock setup you will find anywhere on the lake.
A three-minute walk to Redline Drive-In — the newest spot on the lake. Tulip’s Brunch House and the Lakeview Hotel & Restaurant a short drive away in Mayville.
Bring the boat or the jet skis. Swim at Lakeside Park in Mayville, picnic at Long Point State Park, or step aboard the historic Chautauqua Belle steamboat.
Snowmobile trails at the door, blazing fall color in October, and skiing thirty minutes south at Peek ‘n Peak.
